Pedalling Around The World

After travelling crossing Brazil on a bike and sailing across the Atlantic Ocean during the Regata Brasil 500 Anos, the architect from Minas Gerais Argus Caruso Saturnino has set out on a new adventure journey:

Travel around the world on a bike.

He selected the most important routes both in geographical and historical terms: The Inca’s Route, the East Indian company Route, the Silk Route, the Roman Empire Route, the Islamic Expansion Route, the African and Asian Merchants’ Route, the Royal Road in Minas Gerais, etc.

This long journey is part of the “Pedalling and Educating Project” he is developing. The project focuses mainly on long-distance education and it seeks through this adventure journey to motivate school children and adolescents to collect information about the world. By accessing the Internet the schools are receiving, on a regular basis, didactic and informative material consisting of illustrations and reports on every village and city this traveller has visited.

The journey was planned so as to arouse students’ interest in History, Geography, Culture and the different life styles of people all over the globe. This material is intended for use in the classroom to generate discussions between students and teachers.

This project is unique in the sense that it brings together one of the most ancient means of transport and the most advanced means of communication to offer high quality long-distance teaching.
